Kousenband (also known in English as Asparagus Beans, Yard-long Beans, or String Beans) are long green beans originating from Central Africa. Kousenband is well known for its use in Surinamese cuisine, but it is also popular in other cuisines, such as Indian (where it is called chauli or chawli), West African, and Caribbean, where it is often referred to as bodi or snake beans.
