The Ecuadorean plantain chips brand Tropical Gourmet was founded in 1994. The processing plant is located in Duran. Fresh premium selected plantains from the tropical coastal areas are hand-harvested and supplied on a daily base. The plantain chips are made with both green and ripe plantains (Musa Paradisiaca ABB). The plantains are sliced and baked in vegetable oil until they are golden crisped. Afterwards they are flavoured with natural flavours. There are four flavours available: Lightly Salted, Spicy, Natural Sweet and Extra Sweet.
